The clean-up effort has brought life diversity in one of the last Tidal Marsh within Jamaica Bay. The Marsh Makers were honored with an Environmental Quality Award presented by the EPA in Manhattan, on April 27, 2012.

A Peregrine Falcon showed up in time for sunrise, but low clouds on the horizon held the first light at bay. The bird circled, landed on the beach twice but was gone as the sun finally cleared through:
