Erhard Loretan, 1959-2011

Erhard Loretan is the 3rd climbers to ever summit all 14 peaks above 8000 meters of the planet. He died April 28th in the Swiss Alps in a climbing accident, he was 52 yrs old.

I met Erhard 10 years ago, way out of his element, in NYC where he was invited to speak at a UN conference on Mountain environment. We got to spend an afternoon for photos-ops around the city with one of the greatest climber on Earth.

Marsh restoration cleanup: Jamaica Bay, NYC

The marsh restoration cleanup planned for Earth Day was rescheduled to last Saturday due to weather.

More than 70 volunteers from the NYC Audubon Society, the American Littoral Society, Bloomberg and Shervinn’s brigade gathered bayside to free Rocky Point’s Marsh from all sort of debris brought in by the last high tides: tires, wood, massive amount of plastic, boat parts, etc.

Another low-tech stint: Nikon FM2, 35mm f2.0 Lens and B&W film.  More at

Chico in New York City

Chico, aka Antonio Garcia, came to town last week for a short visit. He took time for a tour de “Loisada” and posed in front of some of his iconic murals that have survived the years. He caught up with old pals and even got into some spray paint business on 11th street.

FRESHPAVED magazine: vol. 1

FRESHPAVED magazine explores skateboarding lifestyle and culture.

For our debut issue, we chose a cover shot that expresses skateboarding’s spirit of adventure and the search for new things.  Adam Colton, who embodies this spirit and this search, caught the amazing overhead shot of Daddy’s Gorge during a skate across Morocco (featured in this issue).
